Description

A pairing of two films - A short film entitled, 'Wendy's Shabbat' followed by the feature-length film, 'Life is Rich'. Featuring a post-screening Q{e_description}amp;amp;A with local filmmaker of Life is Rich, Bonnie Rich! WENDY'S SHABBAT Rachel Myers | Documentary | 10 min | USA | 2017 | English Friends usher in the Sabbath by candlelight, with challah bread and grape juice (no wine at Wendy's) to complement their chicken nuggets and fries. Shabbat is typically observed at home with family, but here these seniors share in the celebration of their religion at Wendys. This is a story of rediscovering the joys of community again in older age, and in the longing for ritual, however unorthodox it may appear. LIFE IS RICH Bonnie Rich | Documentary | 46 min | USA | 2018 | English A real-life comedy about Bonnie Rich, a filmmaker and Jewish mom on a mission to persuade her millennial daughters to raise her unborn grandchildren Jewish. While her daughters see little need for Jewish ritual that doesn't involve food, Bonnie wants them to see Judaism as more than matzo ball soup. So she lures her daughters into Jewish sing-alongs and drags them to meet with rabbis. In the process, Bonnie finds herself contemplating her own connection with her faith and questions whether she will be successful in pulling the family closer to Judaism.
