Flory Jagoda, the Keeper of the Flame of Sephardic music, was born into the Sephardic community of Sarajevo, Bosnia. Flory escaped the destruction of Sarajevos Jewish community, eventually arriving in the United States after World War II. Susan Gaeta, former apprentice to Flory, has become a master and is apprenticing singer and songwriter Gina Sobel. Susan and Gina will share Florys songs, heartfelt ballads, and memories of Flory's Bosnian Jewish community, as well as present their own fresh twists reflective of a similar spirit. This evening is presented in partnership with HIAS and a portion of the proceeds will benefit their mission.
